1. a) not sensitive; not able to feel or nice: »

insensible to cold. A blind man is insensible to colors.

 b) without emotion; unmoved; callous: »

a cold, insensible man. A lifetime as a soldier had not made him insensible to the suffering and sorrow of war.

2. not aware; indifferent: »

The boys in the boat were insensible of the danger. Nothing disturbs the tranquillity of their souls, equally insensible to disasters and to prosperity (Washington Irving).

3. not able to feel anything; unconscious; senseless: »

The man hit by the truck was insensible for four hours.

4. not easily felt; too slow to be noticed; imperceptible: »

The room grew cold by insensible degrees as the sun went down.
